The Boeing 747 is an American commercial jet airliner and cargo aircraft commonly referred to as "Jumbo Jet." This prototype 747 was first flown on February 9, 1969, and currently sits in the Museum of Flight in Seattle for display today. The growing worldwide demand for air travel in the 1960s prompted the creation of the 747, which seats up to 374 passengers, features a height of over six stories, and has a takeoff weight of over 300 tons.
The 747 Project is the brainchild of the Big Imagination Foundation, a Los Angeles arts organization. Thanks in part to their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Big Imagination was able to purchase a 1985 747 Boeing jumbo jet in order to transform it into what they say "might be the largest moving art experience ever created." The main portion of the plane was towed across the Mojave Desert in order to land at the annual Burning Man festival in 2016. Take a look at the plane in its original condition when it was first bought by Big Imagination.
